November 11, 2013 Crescent City CA

Nov. 11, 2013  Crescent City, CA

It's Veteran's Day today, so we should all remember what today means to all of us.  We owe a lot to our Veterans for keeping us safe and free!  We noticed all the towns that we went through today, had their U.S. flags on display!  The drive south into California, was again a beautiful drive.  The Oregon coast didn't let us down, with it's gorgeous scenery.  We arrived at our campground with a good share of the day left, so we went to the Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park.  The road was a dirt road, but it was packed well, so it wasn't too serious to drive through there.  We were thankful that we had a truck today, though!  They had several pull over spots, to let others pass, as it was very narrow!  The trees are awesome!  I was very intrigued with the carpet of sorrel on the ground, which reminded me of shamrocks, but they are listed as Redwood Sorrel.  There was an abundance of large ferns, as well.  One geo-cache we did today took us to an old wooden bridge, which was in very good shape, and another geo-cache was inside a hollowed out old tree, both of which were on this narrow road.  We'll explore more tomorrow.
