November 2, 2013 Depoe Bay, OR
The rains have caught up with us today, and we’re in for
a stormy week ahead. We watched the Badger/Iowa football game today, and waited
for the rain to stop. We wanted to get
three Earthcaches done in the park near us, but it was not so easy! We had to gather information for all three of
them, from signs and plaques along the walkway. It also started to rain pretty hard. I knew this was our only
chance to do this. End result: I got wet! It’s hard not to get wet in this
area anyway, as this is where the Spouting Horns are located! The ocean was angry today, and the waves were
pretty high, but when they came into an area where the basalt had an opening,
the water rushed in there with such force, and it shoots a blast of water up
into the air. We saw some blow up about
40 feet, and over into the street and covered cars and people! There is a
constant mist from the waves coming in today, plus the fact that it rained off
and on. We fulfilled our tasks and
called it a day. We move to Florence, OR
tomorrow and will be there five days.
