We found out at dinner last night that Carolyn and Kent are going to the same campground as we are in Bandon, so we'll get to share more good times with them before we part ways. We arrived in Bandon around noon, to sunny skies! Jim set up the satellite dish, so we can get the Badgers and the Packers this weekend, and then we drove south to the Cape Blanco Lighthouse. We couldn't get up close to it, but it was a beautiful area around it. This is the farthest that the Oregon coast goes west. Also, in this area is the historic Hughes House. It's an 1898 beautiful Victorian home built for the Patrick and Jane Hughes Family, that consisted of the parents and seven children. They developed about 2,000 acres of land and had 100 dairy cows, at one time. Imagine doing that without electricity! We drove back north and wanted to see the famous Face Rock, west of Bandon. Indian folk lore has it, that Princess Ewauna did not fear the evil spirit, Seatka, and danced by the sea late at night. She swam out into the ocean, and it was believed that Seatka had captured the beautiful princess. When her father went to see where she was the next day, they saw her face, turned to stone, in the water. We did get to see the men's basketball game tonight with St. John's and we hope to see the football game tomorrow (Saturday), and of course, the Packers on Sunday. We will make time for the sight seeing and geo-caching in the area, as well.
