Oct. 13, 2013 Port Angeles, WA
Another beautiful day in the Salt Creek Recreation Park,
and our plan today was to watch the Packer game, only to find out that it
wasn’t available in our area! Jim
started surfing the channels and found it was telecast on a Canadian channel! Who would have thought that? Anyway, thank you, Canada! Tomorrow is our Columbus Day, and Canada’s
Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends! We have our ferry tickets to go to Vancouver
Island and will do that Tuesday. We had
planned to go Monday, but with the holiday, we thought it might not be a good
idea. The ferry schedule changes from
7:30 p.m. departure from Victoria to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. We’ll have less time to do what we want to do
over there, but the gardens are our main interest and we can always go back
another time.
We walked down to the Tongue Point, which is all part of
our campground, and up to the WW II bunker.
This was Camp Hayden in the early 1900’s, when it was used as a military
fort for protecting the Strait of Juan de Fuca, along with Fort Worden, and
other forts built in this area. We do
have a nice hiking trail that we’ll do here once it dries up. We haven’t had rain since Friday, but it
takes a long time to dry out, as we are in the Rain Forest area. We have
fog every morning, and it usually lifts by mid-morning and sometimes, noon.
Nice beach area at our campground

Our site in the campground - awesome!
