Oct. 18, 2013 Hoquiam/coastline

Oct. 18, 2013 Trip up the coastline

We hadn't geo-cached since we left Port Townsend, because we couldn't get online to load our caches onto our GPS, so we loaded some this morning and went north up the west coast.  We found some clever caches and found all 18 that we looked for.  That's a good average for one day.  It got us out on some short hikes, to enjoy a beautiful Autumn day in WA State.  We thought we'd see more of the ocean than we did, and when we could see, it was so foggy, so we didn't get any good pictures today.  We stopped at all the little towns along the coast, and found a woodcarver, but he didn't have any eagles that we liked.  We don't really have any room to haul one along anyway, so it's a good thing we didn't like any.  We stopped for a late lunch at Seabrook at Mill 109 and it was a quaint little town.  I snapped a picture of some funky pumpkins that we saw coming into town.  We'll do the same tomorrow, but we'll head south and hope we can get some good pictures of the ocean.   If not, we have all of Oregon left!  We did notice a lot of people invading the beaches.  It's high season to dig for the Razor Clams, and it is definitely a locals thing to do.  Being that it was Friday afternoon, they were all headed to the beaches to do their 'clamming' and there are many access roads to the ocean.  Once high tide is over, they drive out on the beaches and partake in the clamming process.  We might get a closer look at this before we leave the area.  We did drive down on the beach, too, but we didn't get out to investigate.  It was very foggy there, and 'we didn't have the high boots to wear'!
Home in Ocean Shores that looks like a lighthouse.

One of our favorite geo-caches for the day.  Look closely.
